Our Story
Our aim here at Loaf is to create food that our customers, whether they're chefs or keen home bakers, would happily pass off as their own. Creating handcrafted goods that encompass the nostalgic feeling of homemade baking is at the core of what we do.
Loaf's story began back in 2004, when founder Sean Armstrong, who at the time was working as the co-owner of Aucklands' Prime Bistro, saw the need for a new bakery in town. One who's mantra was to supply food establishments with high quality bread whilst providing an exceptional customer experience.
Over the past 18 years, we have not only continued to grow our customer base and product range but we have continued to establish ourselves as a leading wholesale bakery in New Zealand. In 2017, we joined the Yarrows Group which opened us up to larger manufacturing opportunities and introductions to global markets.
Our wide range of handcrafted breads, pastries and sweet treats are now delivered daily to hundreds of retail customers. You'll find our range of slices, cakes and mini bites on the shelves of supermarkets across New Zealand as well as international markets.
At Loaf, we are always looking to further advance our production systems and technology in the bakery whilst maintaning that handcrafted, homemade taste that our customers know and love.
Our Team
Sean is the founder and director of Loaf, and has been running the company since 2004. He has been a chef for almost 20 years and reckons he might know a thing or two about good food!
Gill looks after all of our finance and is in charge of balancing our dough. She can often be found buried amonst stacks of invoices - which is why she has scored the biggest office.
Ange keeps the office and the boss on the straight and narrow. She is also in charge of hiring and onboarding new staff - so if you would like to see your face on here then talk to Ange.
Shane is our sales rep, looking after all of our supermarket and retail customers. It can be tricky to catch him in the office as he's often on the road - always with a doughnut in hand!
Eden is our marketing guru who helps to spread the word of Loaf far and wide. She has also been trying her hand at photography but often just ends up eating the product before shes got the shot...
Nassim is in charge of quality assurance here at Loaf, making sure all of our products leaving our bakery look and tatse top notch.
Tracey is the stocktake queen, making sure our team is locked and loaded with all the essentials, from sesame seeds to spinach, hair nets to product packaging.
Mon runs the packaging team in the factory, making sure all of our products are sealed fresh and ready for dispatch. You always know when Mon is around because you can hear her from a mile away!
Scotty is the Loaf factory manager, so he oversees the entire runnings of the bakery. He has been working for us since 2012, where he started as a day packer and is a weapon on the forklift.
Mohammed is our pastry wizard and supervises the pastry team during the day shift. He has probably made enough brownie mixture during his time at Loaf to fill all of Lake Taupo!
